These wonderful pictures were just sent to me recently by the Ward Mission Leader's family, Paredes family, from the Parque San Martin area, Elder Pribyl's first area. They were taken about January or February of this year. The Paredes family took wonderful care of our missionaries. They are now part of our extended Argentina family. I love keeping in touch with Hermana Paredes via text! She is sooooo sweet and loving!!!
Dear Family and Friends,
Sooooo... it has been a while!
Things have been going pretty good here in Mariano Acosta! Its been a lot of tire spinning... We feel like we are working and just aren't finding the success we are looking for. On the upside, we have 2 awesome baptisms last transfer! And, yesterday in church, I had the opportunity to confer the Aaronic Priesthood on Mariano, one of our baptisms from last month! He is so awesome and it was a special opportunity I had to confer upon him the authority of our Father in Heaven.
We had a nice little miracle this week! We were walking down a street early on in the week and we were passing by a home we knew to be the home of some less active members. We had already passed by a number of times and they didn't want to come out or they all ran inside when they saw us coming... kind of typical behavior down here... Anyway, we had resigned to the fact that they didn't want anything for the time being and had no intent of talking to them; however, I saw some people gathered outside looking like they were moving some stuff. So as we walked by, I just asked if they needed some help and they kindly accepted! We tend to offer service a few times a day and end up doing some service related tasks once or twice a week... (It's weird, no matter how nice or sincere we try to be no one accepts our help sometimes) So, when they accepted, I thought it was interesting after they had clearly rejected us a number of times before. After helping them (it went really fast with our help) for about 5 minutes, we had a brief conversation with a lady where she described some of the family problems going on with them right now. After finishing the conversation, we decided to set a date to come back and teach. When we returned, we had a really great lesson and ended up inviting two of their non member relatives to be baptized! They accepted! It was pretty sweet and we really felt that the lesson helped bring some peace and calm during these stressful times.
I love you and miss you all!
Just saw this picture that someone posted on the Buenos Aires West Mission Facebook page.
Elder Victor Pribyl is in the back row, third one in from the left side.
As of 1/28/15, Elder Pribyl was transferred to Mariano Acosta which is a city 30 minutes west of Parque San Martin. He has a new missionary companion named Elder Connell. These two missionaries had a great time baking some yummy cookies. They would love to receive some easy recipes to make American type dishes. If you have any recipes to share, please feel free to send them via snail mail to Elder Pribyl. His address is in the grey sidebar to the right. Unfortunately, he doesn't always have a way to print his emails. That is why he is requesting snail mail. Thank you!
Elder Pribyl would love to hear from you:
